Memorial Day weekend at the Lake

It was great to be able to get away for a few days and go to the lake and relax. This was the first time Jamie and I have been there this summer but since Jake has already been there a couple times he was excited to show us everything he keeps talking about. He showed us the water, the boat and was the first to go swimming. Grandmama and Papa came Sunday for lunch and like always it was great to spend time with them. Each morning when Jamie and I woke up, everybody was already down at the dock enjoying the water and watching Madison, Bailey, and Caroline swim.

Thanks Nana, Pop, and Aunt Suzanne for taking on Jake each morning!

Shopping at Target

Jake and I went shopping at Target last night! It didn't take us long to make it to the toy aisle and it took even less time for Jake to spot a dump truck he would push around. He took it off of the shelf like it was his and he was able to start shopping. Luckily I was able to get the expensive things out of the truck and convince him to get some of the cheaper toys.
He pushed the truck like this for 1 solid hour...

He must have gotten tired the last 10 minutes we were there because he decided he wanted to ride instead of push. Once we started going this slow I knew it was time to wrap it up and head home.
Nana and Pop - this one is for your house!! :)

Visit to the Lake

Jake spent the majority of last week in McCormick with Nana, Pop, Aunt Suzanne and Uncle Brian. Pop and Nana have moved out to the lake for the summer so every morning Jake woke up looking at the WATER. He absolutely loves it!! When I talked to him each morning he would point the phone to the water so I could 'see' it.
Pop finally put the new boat in the water and everybody loves it. The #1 fan is of course Jake. The best part is when he gets to drive! If you ask Jake about the boat he talks and talks and then he will tell you 'Stop Pop'. That's what he would tell Pop when he wanted the boat to slow down. I asked Jake if we could go to the lake with him and he said it was his lake, his boat, and his Pop. I'll give him everything but I can tell you we would have to fight over Pop!! He had a great time and talks about wanting to go back just about every day.
I get to tell you all of this and not show pictures because MY CAMERA BROKE!! Suzanne forgot her camera in Charlotte so she took mine (which is really her other camera). I found out Sunday night when I wanted to look at pictures. It took less then 2 minutes to get on the computer to buy a new one. (Hopefully I will get it this week. That's the reason there hasn't been any recent blogs with pictures.)
Here are a few pictures that were on my phone...

Update on Gary...

It's been another week and Gary is hopefully on his way to getting better.

Since his last surgery he seems to be slowly getting better by the day. He's still having some things to overcome (always seems like it's something) but with him going on 3 weeks of being in the hospital including 2 surgery's and multiple stays in the ICU I can only hope that he's made it through the worst of it. 3 weeks in the hospital means 3 weeks without any food. I'm sure you can imagine the lack of strength makes even the smallest things (like walking, which is extremely important right now) difficult. There isn't a date set for him to come home but all we are hoping for now is for him to continue to get better.

Thank you so much for your prayers!!

Jake's Trip to Charlotte

Jake went to Charlotte with Nana Monday and has been gone all week. He made it back home yesterday and we were so excited to see him. Nana was nice enough to take Jake with her so he didn't have to spend every night at the hospital with us. He always has a great time in Charlotte and this time was no different. I think he was able to do whatever he wanted and that's the way it should be! All he did was talk about his trip when he got home. Thanks Nana, Auggie Dogg, Aunt Tonya and Aunt Suzanne for all of the help!

When Nana picked up Jake I told her that I wouldn't be upset if he came home with his hair cut...and I wasn't! Gary has been the only person that Jake would let cut his hair and that was out of the question as of last week. He was nice enough to say he would do it when he got home but Jake's hair was already out of control. Suzanne and Nana took him to a place just for kids (wish we had one here) and said he didn't say a word. I wouldn't believe that he wore the cape if I didn't see it for myself.

Afterwards was lunch at McDonalds and a trip to Target for a toy. I love to hit the $1 toys at the front of the store but you know that isn't good enough for Nana. He got his own MyPod and LOVES it. He keeps it right beside him at all times. THANKS NANA!
